Accessibility

A platform designed for everyone. We adhere to the highest accessibility standards to ensure a comfortable and seamless booking experience for every pilgrim

Last updated: March 28, 2026

1. Our Commitment

At Hi Umrah, we believe every pilgrim deserves a smooth and comfortable booking experience regardless of their abilities or the tools they use. Our platform is designed from the ground up to be inclusive and accessible to everyone.

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) Level AA, and we continuously strive to improve accessibility across all site pages.

2. Full Arabic & English Support

The platform is built with full bilingual support. Arabic is the primary language, with complete English support.

  • Native RTL (Right-to-Left) support: All layouts, elements, and icons automatically adapt to Arabic text direction.
  • Switching between languages is instant and doesn't require a full page reload.
  • Language preference is saved automatically so you'll find the site in your preferred language on every visit.
  • All text is rendered in the Rubik font, which supports both Arabic and Latin characters with equal clarity.

3. Keyboard Navigation

You can use the entire site without a mouse. All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard.

  • Tab key to navigate between elements, Shift+Tab to go back.
  • Enter or Space to activate buttons and links.
  • Escape key to close dropdowns and dialog boxes.
  • All form elements (input fields, dropdowns, checkboxes) are fully operable via keyboard.
  • Focus ring is clearly visible on all interactive elements.

4. Screen Reader Compatibility

The platform is designed to work seamlessly with various assistive technologies such as screen readers.

  • All pages use organized hierarchical headings (h1, h2, h3) that facilitate screen reader navigation.
  • Appropriate ARIA attributes (aria-label, role) are used on all interactive elements.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text (alt text) explaining their content.
  • Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers to avoid clutter.
  • Notifications and alerts are automatically announced to screen readers via ARIA live regions.
  • Booking and registration forms contain clear labels associated with each input field.

5. Contrast & Colors

We adhere to recommended color contrast standards to ensure readability for all users.

  • Text-to-background contrast ratio exceeds 4.5:1 per WCAG AA standards.
  • Interactive elements (buttons and links) don't rely on color alone for distinction; they also use shape and text.
  • Booking statuses (confirmed, pending, cancelled) are displayed with clear text badges alongside colors.
  • The primary color palette (dark blue and gold) is chosen to provide high contrast on both light and dark backgrounds.

6. Typography & Readability

  • Base font size is designed to be clearly readable on all devices.
  • You can zoom the page up to 200% via the browser without losing content or element overlap.
  • Line and paragraph spacing is optimized for comfortable reading of longer texts.
  • Arabic text is rendered clearly with consideration for connected letters and diacritics.

7. Responsive Design

The platform works excellently on all screen sizes, from mobile phones to widescreen monitors.

  • Fully responsive design that adapts to screen width automatically.
  • Touch targets are appropriately sized (minimum 44x44 pixels) for easy use on touch devices.
  • Menus automatically convert to a sidebar on small screens.
  • Forms and tables adapt to available space without requiring horizontal scrolling.
  • The top navigation bar stays fixed and accessible while scrolling.

8. Site Performance

Site speed is a fundamental part of accessibility. Slow websites create real barriers for users with slow connections or older devices.

  • Site pages load quickly through caching and smart loading techniques.
  • Images load progressively (Lazy Loading) so they don't slow down initial page load.
  • Primary content appears first before secondary elements.
  • A visible progress bar shows during page navigation so you know the site is responding.

9. Navigation & Structure

  • The site structure is clear and logical: homepage, browse trips, trip details, booking, dashboard.
  • The top navigation bar displays main pages with the current page visually highlighted.
  • Breadcrumbs are available in dashboards for easy navigation back to previous pages.
  • Clear, descriptive links instead of generic phrases like "click here".
  • The homepage search bar takes you directly to trip results.

10. Motion & Animations

We use animations moderately to enhance the experience without disturbing users who are sensitive to motion.

  • All animations are light and short in duration.
  • The site respects the browser's "prefers-reduced-motion" setting and automatically reduces or stops animations.
  • No content flashes or moves rapidly in a way that could cause discomfort.

11. Feedback or Issues?

If you encounter any difficulty using the site or find an element that is not properly accessible, please let us know so we can fix it. We take accessibility feedback seriously and strive to respond and fix issues as quickly as possible.
